I’m not one to express my feelings as most men are. One day last week my 12 year son was in bed getting ready to go to sleep. I went to check on him and his little brother. The younger son was out like a light. He had ABA therapy and was pooped. As I made my way into my older boy’s room I saw the light was still on. I opened the door thinking he may have forgot to turn of the light. Instead, he was laying in bed with a look of confusion like I’ve never saw before. I asked him if he was o.k.? He replied yes dad just thinking. So, I asked him what he was thinking about? He said that Friday in science class they studied the moon landing. He went on for a bit explaining what he learned that day. He looked at me with the most serious expression on face I’ve ever saw. He said “Dad, if we can send a man on the way back in 1969, why in 2014 can scientist not find a cure to autism?” He went on to say that their not even sure what causes it? Well, I was at a loss for words. I said something to the effect that with research and education the future will unlock the puzzle. I have to say sometimes kids can make more logical sense then adults with multiple degrees.
